3 Steps to Looking Awake on the Weekend with Milk Makeup

Chances are you’ve never heard of the Milk Fashion Studios, or Made, the alternative fashion show venue they created. However, you definitely want to know about the makeup line they’ve recently created. And no, you aren’t the only one who thinks makeup is a non-sequitur to a fashion studio and shows. But forget about all that. Not only is this stuff cool and innovative, but you will definitely want some of what they are selling, which is exactly the point of their other businesses. Now you get it, right?

.

High quality, eco-conscious, beautiful, innovative and paraben-free; these words are magic to my ears. And wait? All of the items are meant to be portable, practical and multi-use, not to mention so stinking cute and FUN. Now there is really no excuse not to switch to non-toxic makeup! The powers that be at Milk Makeup were nice enough to send me a few items that I thought would be useful for the busy women who read this blog (that’s you) to know about.

3 Steps to Awake

Am I the only one who resents having to wear makeup on the weekend? I’m always looking to do the least amount of work (i.e. the fewest steps) with the biggest payoff in awakeness. These three Milk products are my new secret.

You know when you wake up at 6:00 for work or from a crying kid (or both?!), and think, this face CAN NOT face the world yet? This is where Milk Makeup’s Cooling Water comes in. In a spill-free twist up chubby tube, this magical potion not only sucks away any puff that has accumulated under your eyes overnight, but also fools your face into awakeness. It is hard to explain but trust me, there is something magical in there, which has made it my first makeup step every morning, but especially Saturday morning when I feel the whole week has caught up to me UNDER MY EYES.

milk weekend lash stain

Milk Makeup Weekend Lash Stain, $22

Don’t you just FEEL more awake with mascara on? But who wants to put on serious mascara like my fave Smashbox one, at 7am on a Sunday? Not me. Milk Makeup created Weekend Lash Stain for me, ok maybe for all of us, but it sure seems like the perfect product created for me specifically. I’ve written before about the merits of getting your lashes dyed, but as I’ve also written, I can’t even manage to get a pedicure every 3 months, so dying my eyelashes is definitely not happening more than once a year. Milk’s Weekend Lash Stain is meant to stay on all weekend without smearing or getting weird and crunchy (as long as you don’t vigorously rub your eyes!), giving you a natural but “awake” look. LOVE this stuff. I even use it during the week when I’m going to be in the office all day on the computer and it seems silly to put on a full face of makeup.

milk highlighter

Milk Makeup Highlighter, $24

Have you ever used highlighter? Alison Woolworth, RLS’s go-to makeup artist, taught me about highlighter years ago. You know when you see celebrities with their makeup done and it literally seems as if light is coming OUT of their faces? That is highlighter. Highlighter doesn’t replace blush, it accentuates it. Put on your regular blush, then add the highlighter to the tops of your cheekbones and BAM!, instant light. What I love about the Milk Makeup highlighter is that is also works well as an eyeshadow and lip color. It would be the perfect product for a minimalist vacation makeup bag.

milk micellar water

Milk Makeup Micellar Water Makeup Remover Wipes, $14

.

And how do we take it all off at the end of the day when you can’t fathom going through your whole face-washing routine? With Micellar Water Wipes of course! I’ve heard about Micellar Water before but was always skeptical that you could seriously “wash” your face with just this special water and a cotton pad. I’ve always liked the idea of using makeup remover wipes, especially when I travel because they can’t spill. However, the packaging is usually way bigger than I want to take with me for a 2 day trip, I’ve never used one that didn’t irritate my skin, and I usually don’t feel as if they clean well enough. The Milk Makeup Micellar Water wipes come individually packaged and left my skin feeling clean and soft, not irritated and dry.

.

The bottom line is that I was thrilled with these products and will now be a loyal customer for these and other innovative products they have. See below for more examples. Not sure what will be in my next order but with Kyle in the house, we most definitely have to try the Spray Nail. What???!!!! Seriously. Watch the video at the bottom of the product page. Which product do you think is the coolest?
