We are constantly asked what one should and shouldn’t wear during these weird, rainy, chilly spring days. See below for all you need to know.
Happy Spring!
.
1. Cotton sweaters are your friend.
By now, all the wool and cashmere are hopefully packed away for winter. Lightweight cashmere can be more appropriate, but the heavy winter turtlenecks shouldn’t be out in May. If you’re still cold on these 50 degree days, try layering a t-shirt or button-down under the sweater.

2. Utilize all of your fashionable light weight jackets.
Military jackets, leather jackets, denim jackets…we love them all. All January you were lugging around your down puffy coats, so take this weather as an opportunity to show off your cute spring jackets. Try a moto jacket with a print or a color; these statement jackets can be worn outside but still work as part of your outfit when worn inside. Bonus!

3. Speaking of leather, don’t be afraid to keep the leather pants out.
Do you remember my post from two years ago about my favorite outfit? This blogger made my outfit even warmer with a light sweater layer. I know lots of my readers have already bought my Hue leatherette leggings, as I’ve been raving about them for years, so this is my announcement to keep them out for the chilly spring weather! (BTW, the leggings are on Nordstrom Rack for only $16.80!!!)

.
4. No more tall boots, but don’t break out the sandals.
In DC, it’s been rain boots and rain flats every day. Without all the rain, the temperature is still great for flats, loafers, sneakers, and booties. Don’t be the person wearing a wool coat with sandals! And yes, we’ve seen it. In fact, we’ve seen it all here in DC.
.
.
5. When all else fails, dress warmly and add a pop of color.
The dreary days can leave you thinking, “is spring ever going to come again?” Add a bright color into your outfit in the form of a purse, a scarf or a sweater. It will help remind you that you’ll be wearing sleeveless dresses and open toe shoes soon enough.
