Blog favorite, Fashionable Comfortable Fall Shoes, has landed! One of the most anticipated shoe blogs of the year, our annual fall comfort shoe digest gives our blog readers a taste of the seasonal client shopping experience and an understanding of the trends. This year, we’ve outdone ourselves with tons of options. What can we say? There are a lot of good shoes out there!
Real Life Style stylists don’t let their clients wear uncomfortable shoes, and we don’t wear them either—at least not while shopping till we drop! Nor are we willing to sacrifice looking fashionable. This year, we’re focused on the season’s hottest styles that cover all your ensemble needs, from work chic to brunch trendy. Keep your fingers scrolling and your wallet close!
Happy Shopping!

Lani wearing her old Prada jacket, an adorable Uniqlo dress, and her YSL Loafers from several seasons ago. Similar loafers from Rag & Bone this season!
Slingbacks
Slingbacks are still in full force in the fashion world this season, and we love the deviations from the standard slingback heel we’re seeing this year. Choose from flat slingbacks, kitten-heeled slingbacks, Mary Jane-style slingbacks, and various fabrics or animal-print slingbacks. All the options you could ever want!
Mary Jane & T-Strap Flats
You can’t go into a store these days without finding a multitude of various Mary Jane-style shoes. We’re finding that people are leaning toward the Mary Jane over a standard flat for its comfort and visual interest. Both the traditional Mary Jane and T-strap styles add a fun, vintage flair to your standard, everyday flats. We love them!
Flats
Some of you are traditionalists with your flat shoes, and that’s ok. This section is for you! A basic flat doesn’t have to be boring. You can spice up your flats by choosing an interesting color, print, or toe shape. Maybe you prefer a flat with straps that aren’t in the traditional Mary Jane style, or a flat with studs or other fun embellishments. Choose a flat that reflects your style without sacrificing comfort.
Loafers
Loafers never really go out of style. However, they often change their silhouette and embellishment details to stay current. Whether you’re a fan of chunky loafers or a classic, chic loafer connoisseur, this group of shoe options is sure to have something you’ll like. Just like with all of our shoes in this blog, click on your shoe of choice to see the multiple color and fabric options available.
Boat and Driver Shoes
Some of you have probably noticed that chocolate colored shoes are hot this season. So even though you may not think of buying boat shoes for your fall wardrobe, allow us to change your mind with a beautiful chocolate boat shoe. By leaning toward a darker shade, boat shoes can be worn well into the fall. As for a driver shoe, we suggest buying them in a rich suede fabric for cooler weather.
Clogs and Mules
Who doesn’t love a cozy clog for the fall? There is nothing more convenient than slipping on a comfortable clog or mule to run errands when you’re in a hurry and the weather is cool. This season, the simple slipper style is dominating the clog world, and it’s all about comfort. Although mules are not as trendy as they once were, we still approve of a beautiful leather or suede mule, especially for a fall work shoe.
Booties
We’ll be the first to admit that we may have gone overboard with our boot options this year, but doesn’t it seem like everyone is impatiently waiting for fall to arrive? We want to pull out our boots! Ease into the season with some cute booties paired with a fun wide-leg pant, before it’s time to pull out those tall boots. We’ve got suede booties, leather booties, and animal print booties; all suitable for your most casual fall days or your best options for wear-to-work style.
Tall Boots
Tall boots are so versatile in the fall and winter that we wish they didn’t take up so much valuable space in our city closets! Or maybe it’s for the best; it controls our boot-buying habit. We often recommend to our clients who have to dress up for work that they keep a beautiful tall boot (or two) in rotation for their work wardrobe. The key to finding a comfortable tall boot is to look for boots with a low heel. It’s tempting to buy those tall boots with a 3″ heel because they look so gorgeous on the model. Trust us, you want to keep your tall boots at a 2″ heel or lower for all-day comfort!
Western Boots
Admittedly, Western boots are the trendiest shoes we’ve included in our blog this year. However, we tried to keep the trend achievable with our Western boot choices. If you’re looking to be trendy but need a Western boot lite option, we have you covered. Or, if you’d prefer to go all out, we first recommend searching for a cool vintage cowboy boot, if you can find one in your size. If not, check out the more traditional cowboy boot options below!
That’s a lot of comfortable fall shoes to pick from! What can we say? We couldn’t choose! Let us know which shoes or boots are your favorites in the comments below!

I’ve been patiently waiting your next blog! Any chance you’ve got a gift guide in the works? I need to give my family Christmas ideas!
Thank you for your patience! As always, so many ideas, so little time ;). Hoping to get one out soon. (I can hear my team cringing as I write this…) Any specific category requests?
Gifts for men!! I have loved your pass by and guide for your husband
I’m feeling on your wave length as I honestly bought Born low profile heel boots yesterday!!
Love Born! Awesome!
You always give the best recs at the perfect time! I have been looking for a non-black boot and I ordered the Thursday Indio Boots the second I opened the email!
Awesome! We love Thursday boots.
Excited to see this post! Am I the only one that needs a refresher on how to pair outfits + shoe? Booties in particular intimidate me because Im certain I’ll wear them wrong :)
Same! Especially with the change in pant styles.
We have been getting a lot of that question lately. If I don’t post an answer here, I’ll put something clever and succinct in the next newsletter!
I can’t wait. Same issue as the two people above!
Lani, this list was more than I expected when I started reading it. Researching EVERY type of shoe is very helpful to your readers. However I already bought my comfortable boots earlier in the season this year. I had to replace my worn out black knee high “leather” boots that I held onto for years because they were so comfy, but was reluctant to do so. I found the Naturalizer Rena Boot with a flat heel and in nice black leather at Nordstroms, which not only has 3 calf width sizes but also comes in Wide width, and only $200. So comfortable and I have a bunion on my left foot! For ankle boots I liked the Easy Spirit Women’s Tamara Heeled Square Toe Booties for $149 from Macy’s.
Donna, I’m sorry we were too late to help you. However, your work will help other readers! I’m going to add your suggestions to this blog :). Thank you!
