This is one of those trends that had me scratching my head at first. Now I love it. This blog came about because we convinced a client looking for a new denim trend to try the cropped flare, but then when she went to wear the jeans without us, had a hard time figuring out the “right” way to style them. The fun part of the trend is that they look a little “off”, so it can be hard to decipher what is good off and what is just off! Here is the answer for all of you! You’re welcome.

The Beginner Level: Booties
.
Ankle boots and cropped flare jeans make a perfect combination for anyone who is ready to try out the trend. A pair of ankle boots with a small stacked heel and a pointed or almond toe will make your legs look even longer. French “It” girl Jeanne Damas shows off her high-waisted jeans with a tucked-in tee, a long menswear blazer, and burgundy booties. How come those French girls are always so cool?

Cropped jeans really showcase your footwear, so your shoes should make a statement. Kate Bosworth’s tasseled combat boots complete her leather jacket look.

In the summer, an open toe bootie or strappy sandal that covers the ankle gives the same impression as a bootie. Leave it to Leandra Medine of the Man Repeller blog to add the best accessories to any outfit!

Intermediate: The Block Heel

Emma Roberts is one of my favorite fashion icons, and this outfit will show you why. Her red Topshop Unique velvet block heels make her jeans and blouse combo very French-girl chic.

Not only does Emmanuelle Alt make a case for cropped flares for work, but she also rocks the navy and black color combo.

Expert Fashionista: Loafers and Oxfords
This is the street-style expert way of wearing cropped flare jeans. Mixing casual cut-off denim with yellow snake print loafers isn’t easy, but fashion editor Julia Sarr-Jamois makes it work with other bright accessories and a fun fur stole.

Silver oxfords are rarely a bad choice, as Kyle can attest as she just picked up a pair from Vince Camuto last month. Michelle Madsen of the blog Take Aim lets her shoes take center stage with a simple sweater and purse.
