Our Favorite Wireless Bras

After a year of comfortable dressing, we think wireless bras are here to stay. What do you think?

Heels, makeup, and sparkly dresses all have their place in our wardrobes again. But, some women are reticent to slip their underwire bras on again. Struggling to find a wireless bra that flatters and provides the support you need? Read on!

Below are some of Kyle and my favorite wireless bras, as well as those of our clients. We also included the underwear we are wearing with them. Is this TMI?

I’m happy to report that the wireless bra market has changed drastically over the past decade. When I was pregnant with Max and in search of an underwire bra I could wear to see clients, there weren’t many options available that checked the box. Fortunately, Real Life Style’s very own bra whisperer Cynthia Hanson rescued me! Cynthia had the alterations department remove the wire from an underwire bra for me. Talk about a problem solver!

Thankfully, these days options are far more extensive. The choices below are a good place to start! If you still find yourself struggling, don’t hesitate to reach out to Cynthia either at the Bloomingdales Chevy Chase, MD lingerie department or through me for her direct contact information. Cynthia does online fittings as well, and she’s helped almost every one of our clients over the past decade.

Happy Shopping!

Lani’s Favorite Wireless Bra

The Wacoal Back Appeal Wireless Bra is so supportive and comfortable that I made it through an 18 hour work day last week without any back pain or discomfort. I am a stickler for the silhouette a bra gives you, which is why I usually insist on underwire bras. However, this Wacoal Wireless Bra looks so good that I was able to wear it under a tight black Theory leather jacket.

I apologize for showing you something you can’t buy! I was desperate for new underwear and so randomly picked up these Ava and Aiden Bonded Edge High-Waist Briefs when I happened to be at a Saks OFF Fifth. Good thing I bought five pairs, because the stock is running low online. Here is a similar shape from Calvin Klein, in a terrific fabric.

Our Clients’ Favorite Wireless Bras

We have multiple clients who wear the Wacoal How Perfect Contour Wireless Bra. I call it my plane bra because it keeps me looking good and comfortable on a cross country plane ride!

I can’t even count how many of our clients wear either the Chantelle Soft Stretch One-Size Seamless Hipster or the Chantelle Soft Stretch One-Size Seamless Brief. (FYI, when you click through to the brief, the first picture that shows up is not the right item. See the other pictures for the correct shape.)

The Spanx Bra-llelujah Lightly Lined Bralette is a client discovery. I love most products created by Spanx but have never found their bras to provide a supportive enough silhouette. Comfort, yes. Support and shaping, no. Therefore, I was shocked that the Spanx Bra-llelujah Bralette‘s performed spectacularly through a battery of try-on trials from formal to casual wear. It looks really chic and sexy in black!

Both Kyle and I absolutely love this panty. The Spanx Undie-tectable Lace Hi-Hipster Panty is a control panty masquerading as sexy underwear. This is the perfect piece to wear when a full control short is too hot or might show.

Bralette Favorites

Kyle got this set as her comfortable WFH basics. The bralette gives support and the underwear gives a light smoothing effect, while neither feel restrictive. I don’t think I’m young and cool enough for this set myself, but maybe you are.

The Wacoal Embrace Lace Convertible Plunge Soft Cup Wireless Bra gives lift and a great line under your clothing without sacrificing comfort or cuteness! The matching Embrace Lace Bikini is a perfect companion. I love the set in all the colors. The black is really chic, and the all white is great for summer or bridal.

The Lively Long-Lined Lace Bralette is another lacey bralette that Kyle loves for it’s soft touch and gentle support. Lively is a newer direct to consumer lingerie brand with reasonably priced, innovative products. Check it out!

Try Cosabella if you want a sexy bralette but need a bigger cup size. They offer a wide selection of curvy bralettes in sizes DD to G. Choose between lace to cotton options.

Underbares is a local DC brand that makes cute, ethically-made undergarments. They’re working on expanding their size range even further, and currently their briefs are offered in sizes up to 6X. Underbares even has an organic cotton muscle tee we missed when writing the muscle tee blog!

  1. Thank you so much for doing this!! I have been searching for the perfect “bralette” every since I found out it was a thing!! From someone who hates bras & being free during the pandemic, I need something to ease my back into the real world. Or at least offer support at home.
