Yes, it is finally statement outerwear season! Just like last year, outdoor socializing calls for some serious statement pieces. If you are like our personal styling clients, you are probably sick of what has been hanging in your closet for the last two years. Thank you, Kyle for rounding up this season’s trends for us!
So which statement outwear item am I lusting after the most? The Levi’s quilted faux leather puffer vest in black is one of the best values in this week’s blog. It’s the perfect replacement for one I wore for over a decade until it got ruined by a nametag at a kid’s school event. I’ve never gotten over it and have been on the hunt ever since. We actually sold the Levi’s vest to a client in brown last week after Kyle put it in the blog!
Let us know which statement outerwear trend you love the most, and which piece you might try in the comments below.
Happy Shopping!

Kyle and Lani twin in their faux leather for a rainy day of shopping day last week at Tyson’s Corner. Picture snapped at Nordstrom. Kyle’s faux leather shirt jacket by Theory. Lani’s faux leather joggers are from Betsy Fisher.
Leather Everything
Real or faux, leather always adds a fashionable edge to your look. Did you see the Instagram story we posted from Nordstrom in matching black faux leather last week? See above in case you missed it! Kyle has been rocking the faux leather shirt jacket look lately. We’ve been adding leather trenches into our clients’ closets for a few seasons now. Printed Puffers
Printed puffers are a pretty fresh trend. Farm Rio is a hot brand that kickstarted the printed puffer trend. I love this idea because we all need a puffer coat for practical reasons. Are your bored with the plain black ones after all these seasons? My black puffer actually has a subtle star pattern printed on it. There is nothing subtle about the Farm Rio Black Animal Sky Puffer Jacket!

The Modern Fleece
This is not your utilitarian fleece. Yes, you can be comfy, cozy, and stylish in a fleece jacket! No more excuses. Go forth and find a cute, modern fleece. And, don’t forget to remove the ones that may not be as cute from the coat closet :).
Uniqlo Pile-Lined Fleece Long Sleeve Jacket, $39.90
Barbour Birling Fleece Jacket, $190
Helmut Lang Patchwork Fleece Jacket, $450
Rails Peyton Quilted Shearling Style Jacket, $268

“Shackets”
The shacket has been a hipster-ish, statement outerwear piece for the last few seasons. I haven’t embraced the trend because they were not interesting and/or feminine enough for my taste. There are now enough options out there to get into this practical, cozy trend. My favorite shackets are the ones that are longer in length, which I find to be more flattering on most women.
Old Navy Soft-Brushed Utility Shacket, $74.99
BlankNYC Plaid Shirt Jacket, $98
Bagatelle Animal Print Shirt Jacket, $158
Joes Firnanda Shirt Jacket, $298
Ted Baker Emerii Oversized Belted Shacket, $495

Rails Steffi Buffalo Plaid Wool Blend Jacket, $268
