Am I the only one who stopped dead in their tracks when they saw Cate Blanchett’s black and turquoise look at the Oscars this February? Her outfit was one of my favorites in the Oscars fashion recap we posted. What I didn’t realize at the time is that 8 months later, I would still be referencing the look by John Galliano for Martin Margiela and Tiffany. The brilliance of this look is the simplicity of the black dress and the pop of color in the turquoise necklace. The Oscars are known for setting trends but to me they usually apply only to a small segment of one’s wardrobe. This color combo works in any part of your wardrobe, not just black tie. In fact, I recently put a client in the most simple of black crew-neck jersey dresses from J Jill, added a Jasper necklace, and pow! Great style. A black tee shirt is usually the basis of my fall wardrobe. Imagine the ease of a black tee, jeans, and boots, but the style quotient of Cate Blanchett after adding a turquoise necklace. I think you’ll be happy with the choices we have found for you.
