The Outfit to Get You Out of Your Skinny Jeans Rut

Are you still in a skinny jeans rut? Did you still feel overwhelmed and unsure of where to start after reading A Comprehensive Guide to Alternatives to Skinny Jeans, our last blog on the subject? Kyle and I recently realized that perhaps we needed to give everyone one pair of jeans to catapult them out of the skinny jeans rut. What is the one, magical pair that will transport you over to the other side, you ask? It is the Madewell Perfect Vintage Jean, which comes in a wide size range and many colors.

In fact, I’m going to buy my own pair as soon as I have time to take myself shopping. I am not in a skinny jeans rut, I am in an almost-no-jeans rut! I currently have one pair of amazing straight leg splatter paint jeans Kyle made for me, a pair of white culotte jeans that are only appropriate for certain outfits and seasons, and a pair of incredible, long flared jeans that need to be repaired. I keep wondering if the other moms at flag football will notice if I wear the same jeans every single Sunday. At least they are really cool!

Happy Shopping!

Yes, the tweet above the outfit is real! A client forwarded it to me to illustrate how she felt before she went through the Real Life Style process. This client is one of two recent clients who already had a pair of Madewell Perfect Vintage Jeans in their closets. This one knew it was great. The other hadn’t quite figured out the shoes to make them work. This is why we are giving you the whole outfit. I encourage you to also click through to the Madewell website and look around to see some of their outfit examples on all the different models and colors of the style.

Is an open front jacket too boho for you? We also love the Quinn Faux Suede Moto Jacket from Kut From the Kloth. I have purchased it for myself and for a client. I gotta tell you though, this new purple haze color is going on my birthday list. Obsessed!!!

  1. Hahah I just ordered those jeans!!! They are great and feel generally of the moment 🙂 Trying to decide which size to keep (the smaller looks a bit better but is less comfortable; however, reviews seem to indicate that they stretch out?).

    1. I love it! You are out of your skinny jeans rut! Yes, ALL jeans with stretch will stretch. If they don’t feel too tight when you buy them, they are not the correct size.

I clicked right through and bought the Madewell jeans–a brand I hadn’t previously tried. They arrived on Friday and fit PERFECTLY. I’m psyched! Thanks for the recommendation.

    1. Oh I’m so excited to hear that! I still have to get my pair… I’m waiting to shop in person since we have a trip to the store planned soon.
