A Ridiculously Exhaustive Comfort Shoe Blog

Believe it or not, our most popular blogs are not on the latest trends. Rather, our most loved, shopped, and remembered blogs posts are on comfortable shoes. After getting so many questions about comfortable shoes during my Wear Your Power E-Course with Mindful Return last month, I thought a fresh comfortable shoe post was necessary.  Read my take on each brand and then click through the sliders to check out Kyle and my current favorites from each brand. I think you will be pleasantly surprised by how fashionable some comfort brands have become and how comfortable some fashion brands can be. Most of the shoes featured come in multiple colors so click through to check them out if you like a style but not the color. The bottom line? You no longer have an excuse to wear ugly shoes.

Happy Shopping!

Naturalizer is a brand that served me well for a long time. They used to have one or two styles a season that could translate as being fashionable, but they seem to be adding more these days. The white mule featured below has me in a bit of a tizzy!  I had a few pairs of leather riding boots from Naturalizer that lasted me years and years, garnering many compliments and queries the whole time. I loved having a fashionable shoe that could also pound the pavement shopping in New York all day without any discomfort.

Naturalizer Simonette Mule, $89.95

Naturalizer Emiline Flat Loafer, $89.95

Naturalizer Natalie Pumps, $98.95

Naturalizer Stella Flats, $99 $52.92

Naturalizer Amabella Slide Sandal, $79.95

Cole Haan

Cole Haan became known for their comfortable pumps when they were part of Nike for a few years. Although Nike sold the company quite awhile ago, the comfort aspect has remained, and we could not be more grateful! Cole Haan shoes are well-made, fashionable, and comfortable. Their Grand line of shoes (for men and women) feel exactly like sneakers, but are infinitely more fashionable.

Cole Haan Leah Skimmer Flat, $150

Cole Haan OriginalGrand Wingtip Oxford, $150 $129.95

Cole Haan GrandPro Spectator Slip On Sneaker, $180

Cole Haan ZeroGrand Slide Sandal, $150

Cole Haan ZeroGrand Oxford with Stitchlite, $150

Eileen Fisher

Eileen Fisher shoes are as comfortable as her clothing and just as sturdy. If your style skews to the avant-garde, these are your shoes. The leather and suede used is always soft to the touch and pliable from the start, no need to wear the shoes in.

Eileen Fisher Willow Wedge Sandal, $198

Eileen Fisher Slide Sandal, $195

Eileen Fisher Leigh Asymmetrical Slingback Sandal, $235

Eileen Fisher Ruche Sandal, $225

Eileen Fisher Bauer Mule, $195

After slipping my foot into the softness of a ton of Everlane shoes during Kyle and my most recent New York City shopping trip, I knew I had to have some. My friend Dana of the blog Something Good so highly recommended the Day Glove shoe for tromping around New York all day, that I purchased a pair for my own tourist trip to New York with the kids last month. They definitely lived up to the hype and I can’t wait to start wearing them again as soon as it is not 95 degrees every day. Everlane shoes are pretty, comfortable, and worth the cost. Looking for a more comfortable, modern alternative to a pump? Try the Everlane Day Heel. I can’t wait to get my next pair of Everlane shoes. I’m currently obsessed with the Day Mule.

Everlane Day Glove, $115

Everlane Day Heel, $150

Everlane Day Heel Mule, $155

Everlane Form Two-Strap Sandal, $118

Vaneli is a brand we turn to when clients have a hard to find shoe size, like a 5 or 11 1/2, and need comfort. It helps that their prices are reasonable too. Not all of the styles are fashionable, but as you’ll see below, a lot of them are. I’m loving the cross strap slide! We show them to you in denim, but click through to see the cool black version too. You’re welcome.

Vaneli Bodicea Sandal, $135 $80.99

Vaneli Baret Cross Strap Slide Sandal, $150

Vaneli Yohanna, $107 $74.99

Vaneli Dilys Wedge Pump, $129.95

Born shoes have come a very long way in the past few years. Check out the embroidered mule below to see how far! We’ve been buying Born sandals for clients who need comfort in their summer shoe wardrobe for years. It is nice to see they are branching out into super cool embroidery and crochet too!

Born Ingah Mule, $84.95

Born Julianne Flat, $89.95

Born Cameo Mule, $89.95

I’ve been a secret Dansko fan for years. Their clogs were the only thing I wore casually in fall/winter for quite awhile when my kids were very small because they were sturdy, stable, and could be put on hands free. Recently I had to make myself take a long walk away from the Maci Mule sandal on one of our (client) shopping trips to Nordstrom. I still want them though… And in answer to the question, “but are they cool?,” read this funny article from the NYT.

Dansko Maci Mule Sandal, $139.95

Dansko Minka Sandal, $139.95

Dansko Danae Block Heel Sandal, $149.95

Dansko Martina Mary Jane Clog, $129.95

Dansko Professional Clog, $129.95

Aerosoles is a brand mostly known for comfort, but every once in awhile they have something really cute and comfortable. Lately, they have been co-opting more of the latest styles for their own. Our clients give rave reviews to their Aerosoles shoes. The price is commensurate with how long they last, but hey, then you have an excuse to buy new shoes! I’m very tempted by the Just a Bit sandal, which looks remarkably like the Vaneli sandal in the slider above! The Have Fun sneaker would be perfect for running out the door with the kids when you barely have time or free hands to get your own shoes on.

Aerosoles Just A Bit Sandal, $89

Aerosoles Mid Size Sandal, $69

Aerosoles Conchlusion Sandal, $40

Aerosoles Have Fun Sneaker, $69.99

Clarks has been a major “go to” brand for RLS the last few years. Although we don’t do much in the way of their pumps anymore, they keep coming up with cool, quirky designs (like the Oxfords below) we find ourselves lusting after. Not to mention they do a good looking wedge each summer. Just keep away from the really orthotic looking sandals!

Clarks Edenvale Opal, $120 $95.99

Clarks Calla Violet Pumps, $109.95

Clarks Maritsa Lara, $130

Clarks Rosilla Hollis Slides, $90

Clarks Linvale Vena Pumps, $95

Gentle Souls

Oh, Gentle Souls….Putting on these shoes feel like putting your feet into a soft leather blanket. Every pair. But wait, Gentle Souls shoes are also really cool! Gold high-heeled loafer anyone? I am loving that moto boot too! If you need a new casual, short leather boot (I’m talking to you Kim!), this is it.

Gentle Souls Ethan Pump, $179.95

Gentle Souls Nyomi Platform Sandal, $229.95

Gentle Souls Best of Boot, $250

Gentle Souls Eugene Loafer, $199

Gentle Souls Forella Wedge, $199

Vionic is a brand designed for people who have no choice but to wear comfortable shoes because of back or foot issues. Good thing they have started to come out with even more fashionable styles! We used to have to pick through all of the styles very carefully to choose what our clients might be allowed to wear. Now there are a variety of great options. Lavender suede faux-Gucci mule, you are coming home with me!

Vionic Adeline Mule, $119.95

Vionic Lou Slide, $79.99

Vionic Minna Flat, $119.95

Vionic Santorini, $109.95 $82.68

Vionic Ronnie Boots, $179.95

Vionic Fillmore Slides, $119.95

Are you sooo sick of hearing us talk about Birkenstocks? Well sorry, we aren’t going to stop. Just when we think the trend is running out of steam, they come up with something like duochrome purple sandals (I so had a moment over these at Nordstrom Tysons!), or platform silver sandals. I’ve been wearing my silver metallic Birkenstocks for 2 summers straight and they still look great. They dress up my Athleisure and bring a dress down a notch. I am obsessed. Can you tell?

Birkenstock Arizona in Shiny Snake Sand, $99.95

Birkenstock Arizona in Iridescent Violet, $99.95

Birkenstock Arizona in Washed Metallic Blue Silver Suede, $125

Birkenstock Arizona in Metallic Stones Copper, $99.95

Birkenstock Arizona Platform in Monochrome Silver, $99.95

Birkenstock Arizona in Studded Rose Nubuck, $240

Birkenstock Arizona Diamond, $300

FitFlop is a brand I would not let my clients wear until recently, when they started making some new versions other than their classic sandal. How do you tell which FitFlops are ok and which ones are not? If you can’t tell they are a FitFlop, you can wear them.

FitFlop Delta Slide Sandal, $119.95 $78

FitFlop Tia Thong Sandal, $109.95 $79.90

FitFlop H-Bar Slide Sandal, $129.95

FitFlop Sola Sandal, $109.95
