I had a momentary shoe conundrum the other night when I went to throw on a pair of shoes to run across the street to exercise class, at which I wear only grippy socks. I do own real sport sandals, but use them as house shoes to massage my overworked feet, so I don’t like to wear them outside. This left my regular black leather sandals, casual but too dressy for exercise pants, not to mention I didn’t want to put sweaty feet into them after my class. Flip-flops would be the obvious choice, but just then I had a frightening thought: “I’m too old for flip-flops.” In this moment I realized that I should only be wearing flip-flops to and from pedicure appointments.
So what is a good substitute? Kyle came back from a trip to Nordstrom the other day with these beauties, the Birkenstock Madrid Slide Sandal. Made of EVA foam, they come in a variety of colors and are perfect for the pool, beach, getting the mail and running to exercise class. I’m looking forward to editing some flip-flops once my black pair arrives from Nordstrom. Black too boring for you? The Madrid also comes in hot pink, white and red. Thanks for the shopping tip, Kyle!
