Will I See You Next Year? The Sisterhood of The She-Suite

As you may have read in the blog a few weeks ago, this past Friday I spoke on a panel at Women in The Spotlight: The She-Suite, Secrets from the Spotlight conference at The Ritz Carlton in Pentagon City about how your wardrobe affects your personal brand. What a powerful day! Where do I start?  As you can tell from the picture above, we had a really good time! Everyone walked away with a plan to get through their biggest career block; a small group of women on the same journey who have signed up to be cheerleaders for each other; and a belief in themselves and their ability to achieve more.

Missed the conference? I’ll keep you posted on the date for next year. I will definitely be there! Want to work intensively on your own personal brand? I hope they come with me next year.

At least 10 women came up to me afterward to say that the advice I gave to get a bra fitting at least once a year changed their lives. (A note to Cynthia at Neiman Marcus in Friendship Heights: If you are overwhelmed with appointments this week, it’s my fault!) You never know what people will take away from your talk, right? I’ll fill you in on the rest of my talk in a future blog post.

My aha moment was this… Just as Glinda, the Good Witch, told Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz, “the power was within you the whole time.” I’ve always said that the reason being a personal stylist is my dream job has nothing to do with clothes; it is that I get paid to help other women feel good about themselves. However, at the She-Suite conference I somehow came to the realization that what I’m also doing is helping women discover the power that was within them the whole time. The wardrobe is only the vehicle. Have you discovered your power yet?

With love,
