Heavenly Fashion at the 2018 Met Gala

After hearing the announcement for this year’s costume exhibit, “Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination,” I instantly wondered what would be worn on the Met Gala red carpet. I knew we’d see many Madonna-inspired looks from Versace and Dolce and Gabbana. But would there be as much nakedness as there has been the past few years? I mean, last year Kendall Jenner wore La Perla lingerie to the party. This was a gala with a Catholic theme, with an invitation that specifically said to wear your “Sunday best.”

The fashion did not disappoint, unlike last year’s snooze-fest. I felt like celebrities were much more modest and exciting than usual! As explained in the New York Times write-up of this year’s event, awards shows have become such fashion safe-zones, that events like the Met Gala become the only time that celebrities feel comfortable wearing exaggerated catwalk looks. And this year, so many people really went all out! We were coincidentally in New York during the Gala on Monday, so I spent all night watching E! Fashion Police and scrolling through Instagram Stories to keep up with all the amazing looks.

I tried to keep this post short and sweet with my favorite looks, but I had a hard time really narrowing it down. Who was your favorite? Let us know! I think my #1 vote goes to Gigi Hadid in Versace.
