This year’s Oscars will probably go down as the first modern day ceremony without a host. While I’m sorry that Kevin Hart behaved offensively, I was thrilled with the broadcast. Forced to get creative, the producers did just that and it worked beautifully. The Academy upped the star wattage and banter between presenters, which gave the audience more time to check out the fashion! And wear fashion they did. Keep scrolling to see and read about Kyle and my take on the most delightful looks of the 2019 Oscars.
Enjoy! And let us know which are your favorite looks!

Show Stoppers
Some outfits just make you stop in your tracks. The number one traffic stopper of the night was Billy Porter’s ummm….tux dress? Whatever you want to call it, it was ground-breaking fashion. I hadn’t seen Emma Stone on the red carpet, but even sitting down I could tell how incredibly dynamic her Louis Vuitton dress was, not to mention it is the best color ever for the actress. WWD, the bible of the fashion industry, also loved Billy but hated Emma. I respectfully disagree. Michelle Yeoh proves you don’t have to be 28 to make a fashion statement. Her gown was simply stunning. And Ruth Carter, you deserved that Oscar so much!

Before and After The Show
How do they manage to have phenomenal red carpet outfits, and then change into something equally as amazing? And how can Jennifer Lopez and Alexander Rodriguez really be a couple? Do you think they just work out and eat healthy chef-prepared food all day? Do you know that she is 49???? I absolutely loved both of her looks on Oscar night.
P.S. Check out Glenn Close in a caped jumpsuit at age 71! Ladies, you have no excuse not to take a fashion risk once in a while.

Ice Blue
How ethereal did Yalitza Aparico look in her ice blue Rodarte dress? Talk about feeling like a princess for a day! Nevermind that she was nominated for an Oscar for her first ever acting role. And although she looks as good as the actresses, Elaine Welteroth is actually the former socially active editor of Teen Vogue who signed with talent agency CAA last year.

Bright Red
There could be no disagreement over how stunning the multi-talented Jennifer Hudson looked in her one-shoulder, ruffled red dress from Elie Saab Couture. Rachel Weisz’s look required a few more minutes of pondering, and halfway through the show I still wasn’t sure what I thought of it! I’ve landed on the side of it’s genius, but you definitely have to be a true fashion person to get the look from Givenchy Couture, PVC capelet and all.

Both Constance Wu (Crazy Rich Asians) and Danai Gurira (Black Panther) were in bold movies this year, and chose outfits to match. I was obsessed with Gurira’s heroine in Black Panther!

50 Shades of Pink
So first of all, what was Marie Kondo doing at the Oscars? I wonder who’s idea it was to invite her? Whoever it was, bravo! We needed her fashion inspiration and smiling face on the red carpet and in all the fashion roundups the next day. Awkwafina’s (I’m still not exactly sure who she is but she is awesome!) pink tux was fierce and showcased the big bow, sure to be a major fall trend later this year. Helen Mirren, you never disappoint.

The Jewelry Moments
I was texting Kyle furiously all night: “the jewelry! the jewelry!”. Below are some of the most standout diamond looks of the night. What do you think of Charlize Theron’s transformation? I thought it was about time.

Best Dressed Couples
Am I the only one who had no idea that Jason Momoa and Lisa Bonet have been together long enough to have multiple children? I made Kyle google it to see how gorgeous the kids are. But seriously, did anyone else know this? And don’t “the wives” below look incredible? Are you as obsessed with Amatus-Sami Karim‘s cosmic dress as I am?

Best Dressed Men
I just love that some of the men are using the Oscars to have almost as much fun with fashion as the women. Sorry gentlemen who tried, Chadwick Bosemen wins best dressed. Hands down. No contest.

Borrowed From The Boys
It can be risky to wear anything other than a gown to the Oscars. Remember Demi Moore in bike shorts? Probably not, but I do. These ladies pulled off the look to a tee. Melissa McCarthy, you continue to be a major Chic style type icon. Love the diamond brooch on Amy Poehler to add just the right amount of femininity and sparkle. Elsie Fisher’s whimsical Thom Browne look was such a risk that totally paid off.

More After Party Amazement
Here I think we can let the outfits speak for themselves. Can we talk about the fact that Rowan Blanchard is only 17 and totally pulling off a high-fashion runway look?!
