Poppy Flowers, “Micro-Wedding: Kyle + Jackson”

The best news to come out of 2020 was Kyle and Jack’s wedding! Their florist, Poppy Flowers, featured their backyard wedding on their blog. You can see all the pictures from Kyle’s wedding in her post from September, and read Poppy’s post on their site or below.

Kyle and Jackson

Very little slips past Kyle, but somehow, Jackson managed to surprise her with his proposal. With their dog, Daisy, in tow, Jackson proposed at the Japanese Gardens in the National Arboretum in August 2019.

Kyle, who works as a personal stylist at Real Life Style, and Jackson, who runs a plant DNA testing lab Farmer Freeman, have been together since college. When we asked Kyle her fondest memory of their time together, she picked their time traveling to the bustling town of Porjus, Sweden (population of 328, only 1 restaurant) to see the Northern Lights.

The couple originally intended to get married at Rockwood Manor, but like much else this year, these plans were thwarted by the pandemic. Instead, the couple opted for a micro-wedding at Kyle’s parent’s home in Annapolis, Maryland.

Kyle’s flower vision was bohemian and whimsical. Following her lead, we designed a bouquet filled with garden roses, white anemones, and pops of exquisite dried flowers — orange gomphrena and scabiosa pods.

Jackson’s boutonniere perfectly complemented Kyle’s bouquet with pops of peachy pink dried scabiosa pods.

The couple also couldn’t pass up a gorgeous, daisy crown for their pup (and flower girl!), Daisy.

After their special day, Kyle preserved her Poppy bouquet in resin with Soil and Soul, and the couple hopes to celebrate their first wedding anniversary and 10 years of being together come fall — given it’s safe to dance without masks.
