Do you know how much I hate to have my picture taken? You can’t even imagine because it is so unreasonable. Don’t even get Kyle started. So it is a testament to how much I love my new Everlane Japanese GoWeave Essential jumpsuit [c/o Everlane] that I literally held a sidewalk photo shoot in order to share it with you! Other bloggers do this all the time, but you know, I am the weird blogger whose blog is about my readers, not about me 🙂
I don’t know that I’ve ever had a piece of clothing with this combination of versatility, comfort, value, utility, and flat-out fabulousness. I didn’t just pull the jumpsuit out for a photo shoot, I actually wore it all day (as pictured in Look 1), from camp drop-off through client meetings and hosting a book club at my house, collecting compliments through the day. I can’t wait to wear it again. Keep reading for a description of each look and ideas of how you can recreate each one on your own.
It also deserves mentioning that although I have always wanted the perfect black jumpsuit, being 5’3″ and busty does not lend itself to an easy jumpsuit fit. Nothing does actually. One usually has to try on many, many jumpsuits before finding one that fits well, and even then alterations may be necessary. The fact that I ordered my normal size (6) and then was able to pull it out of the box and put it on without any adjustment whatsoever is astounding. I knew it was perfect before I even looked in a mirror or asked Kyle for her opinion. One of my major jumpsuit pet peeves is that most of them are designed for people who don’t need to wear a bra, which is not an option for me. The Everlane jumpsuit requires no special bra whatsoever.
Jumpsuits have become a timeless staple, so I look forward to wearing my 9 looks, and more, for years to come. The Everlane Japanese GoWeave Essential Jumpsuit goes everywhere. Good job, Everlane!

Look 1- Comfortable Elegance
Everlane Japanese GoWeave Essential Jumpsuit + Gorgeous Statement Necklace + Comfortable, Elegant Sandals
.
You can’t have Comfortable Elegance without comfortable but elegant shoes, right? I am obsessed with my new metallic sandals c/o Vaneli. So obsessed I might have to order them in the black and silver version too! A metallic sandal is a priceless neutral in summer. Even more priceless is a metallic sandal with beige linen and both gold and silver chain, making it a dressy, triple neutral look! Now let’s have it flat and made by a comfort brand. Yes, please! I am wearing these Vaneli sandals all. the. time. Try Marmi for a really wide selection of Vaneli shoes. Speaking of wide, Vaneli shoes come in wide widths and go up to a size 12.

Look 2-Exotic Summer
Everlane Japanese GoWeave Essential Jumpsuit + Beaded Belt + Bright Sandals
.
You might remember this beautiful beaded belt as part of my easy chic wardrobe from last summer’s trip to NYC with the kids. Lucky for me, it was a gift from my friend Anu, designer extraordinaire of the line IndiBlossom. I wore it with a since retired black cotton maxi dress so I am super excited to discover a new, fun way to show it off! And double lucky for me, my best friend Erin gave me these awesome yellow Joe’s sandals last time I stayed with her in New York. I don’t even normally like yellow, but I’m pretty obsessed with these super comfy sandals Erin purchases from Sole Society. (In my role as her personal stylist, I informed Erin that the reason the sandals had never been comfortable for her was that they were a half size too big. My size. What a coincidence. In my suitcase they went!)

Look 3- Fun with Fringe
Everlane Japanese GoWeave Essential Jumpsuit + Long Fringe Vest + Comfortable, Elegant sandals
.
Remember this awesome Roman vest I bought for my fashion trip to Israel? I still love it so much but was definitely looking for a new and exciting outfit for it. Here I go! Will it count as people seeing me wear the same thing, since you will all have seen me in 9 of my best outfits before I’ve even worn 8 of them for more than 5 minutes? Hmmm… Kyle figured out that the fringe on the vest matched the fringe on my new Vaneli sandals. These are things fashion nerds like us live for.

Look 4- Leather for Day
Everlane Japanese GoWeave Essential Jumpsuit + Leather Vest + Edgy Necklace + Everlane Day Gloves
.
Can you tell I love a vest? Vests smooth over and hide everything, including last night’s piece of chocolate cake! I just feel so much less self-conscious about my bust and my waist and well…everything when I’m wearing a vest. I consider a vest to be a very important tool in the confidence building arsenal of my wardrobe. This shawl collar Elie Tahari vest was a Neiman Marcus Last Call steal from a few years ago that is even cooler up close. I dress down the bronze metallic leather by adding my Everlane Day Gloves, a super comfy but modern black flat.

Look 5- Cool Dinner
Everlane Japanese GoWeave Essential Jumpsuit + Vintage Prada jacket +Comfy, Avant-Garde sandals
Can I tell you the story of this jacket? We were in the Berkshires for a friend’s wedding and I spotted a vintage store from the car window on our first day in town. The next day we went bumming around the cute shops with friends, (can you tell the kids stayed in DC with a babysitter?) and I literally felt a calling from this store that there was something in there for me. Let me tell you, I am long past the point of trolling vintage stores, a major sport of mine from junior high through college, but I knew there was something in that store. I dragged my friends blocks out of our way, found the Prada jacket on a rack in the designer section, and walked out satisfied. I wish you could see the designer details, from the lace lining to the metallic trim.
Does everyone remember these awesome platform sandals from the Israel Shoe blog? You know shoes are great when you go on a trip with 35 other girls in fashion and they all want your shoes! Betsy Fisher is really good at buying incredibly stylish but comfortable shoes! And by the way, I’m still wearing them 3 years later.

Look 6- Graffiti Goes Everywhere
Everlane Japanese GoWeave Essential Jumpsuit + Graffiti S.W.O.R.D Leather Jacket + Silver Geometric Hoops + Strappy Sandals
.
You know those questions like, if you were on a desert island, which beauty products would you take with you? Well if I could have only one jacket in my whole closet, I would not choose the classic black blazer, I would chose my S.W.O.R.D. leather jacket, which is the coolest piece of clothing I own. I titled this one Graffiti Everywhere because not only does the Everlane GoWeave jumpsuit go everywhere, but so does a super-cool, high-quality, hand-painted leather jacket. You could wear this outfit to the theater, dinner, a cocktail party, or a client. Ok, maybe only a client if you work in a creative field like me 🙂 Also, a change of shoes would really change the tone of the outfit. Oooh, how about the heeled silver and black version of the Vaneli sandal above? Now I’m teasing myself!

Look 7- Summer Elegance
Everlane Japanese GoWeave Essential jumpsuit + Metallic Linen Jacket + Gold Hoops + Shiny Slingbacks
.
I have been wearing this metallic jacket since Mr. Real Life Style and I were engaged I think. It was a “one for me, one for the client” sort of deal with my first client in DC, who is now a dear friend. This jacket, which I am sort of embarrassed to tell you, was something like $30 at the old Filene’s Basement in Dupont Circle, gets oodles of compliments to this day. Gosh I miss that store. On the flip side, the shoes I have paired with this outfit are Marc Jacobs from Hu’s Wear. They were so expensive and are so beautiful…and so uncomfortable, yet I can’t bring myself to give them up. The mix of black patent and gold and the vintage styling just look good with so many things, I absolutely can’t give them up. These Marc Jacobs slingbacks might be the last pair of uncomfortable shoes I suffer through. They are so worth it. You should buy my Natalie Frigo large brass hoop earrings though, which add a modern edge to the outfit and are super comfortable.

Look 8- Winter Work
Everlane Japanese GoWeave Essential jumpsuit + Power Color Jacket + Gold Hoops + Rocker boots
.
Remember my red-orange Annie Kwan jacket from my 40th birthday dinner picture and about a million other pictures since on the RLS Instagram? This exact shade of red-orange is one of my power colors and so this jacket shows up in pictures a lot. I have since purchased another jacket in the same shade from Roman, but the silhouette doesn’t photograph as well, so you are stuck seeing me in the same jacket a million times. Of course I was looking for a new way to reinvent my tried and true jacket and the Everlane jumpsuit has come to the rescue again! I love the cool gold studs on the back of my boots!

Look 9- Evening Chic
Everlane Japanese GoWeave Essential Jumpsuit + Evening Jacket + Faceted Necklace + Strappy Sandals
.
My Roman butterfly jacket has been a favorite evening go-to for a bit, usually worn over a little black dress. See example on Instagram. I also wear it with jeans and black pants for day and never tire of the design or the compliments I receive. It is such an awesome jacket that I’ve also sold it to 2 clients! I’m so excited to have yet another way to wear my butterfly jacket for evening, especially one that involves flats. I think I’ll wear this outfit to the Kennedy Center later this month.
.
P.S. Don’t you love my new prescription sunglasses? It is hard to see but they actually have some green in them. They are Ray Bans from My Eye Dr. It was so sunny the day we took these pictures, I had to wear them. Promise I would not wear them to an evening event!
