January is always a good time to go looking for a bit of fashion fluff, isn’t it? The Golden Globes delivered not just eye candy but also fresh trends. Kyle was nice enough to sift through and organize all of them for you. I’m just here with the snarky commentary.
Remember when there were about 10 celebrities in Gucci at every red carpet event, each individual dress decked out in rainbows, stars, bows, and sequins? Apparently those days are behind us, as most stars favored minimalism on the Golden Globes red carpet. Despite the lack of crazy fashion, I didn’t feel like anyone played it too safe or too boring. Since going with the trend and ditching cable television, I have to say that I miss watching the awards show’s red carpet more than any other network offering. Bridget Foley of WWD wrote a clever column last week lamenting the staid looks of the red carpet awards season. I could not have agreed more with this assesment as well as her sentiment that one can not blame actresses for resisting bigger fashion risks, since the fall-out is now not only splashed across the next day’s papers, but will live on the internet forever.
