Once upon a time, on a far-away runway…
…the great fashion kings, Domenico Dolce & Stefano Gabbana, revealed their Fall/Winter 2016-17 collection to the world! And if you couldn’t guess the collection’s theme already, it’s fairytales! This stunning collection (which can be seen in full on Dolce & Gabbana’s website) had me gasping with every click.

.
A Snow White-inspired dress covered in (probably poisoned) apples? A houndstooth skirt decorated with appliqué clocks reading five minutes to midnight? A bedazzled illustration of The Frog Prince? This collection excites both my inner fashionista and my inner child (speaking of which, click here to check out the Dolce & Gabbana advertising campaign for their 2016-17 children’s collection! Too cute!).
Vogue fashion critic Sarah Mower pointed out in her review of the collection that many of the looks reference specific fairytale characters as well as traditional stock characters like the Wicked Stepmother and Prince Charming. I decided to run with Mower’s observation and sort some of these looks into what I perceived to be the four main character inspirations for the Dolce & Gabbana looks. And, just for kicks, I created some Dolce & Gabbana-inspired outfits – at affordable prices! When life give you pumpkins, turn them into carriages!
So, which Dolce & Gabbana character are you? The sweet and sassy heroine? The dark and dangerous wicked stepmother? The dashing and debonair Prince Charming? Or the wacky and whimsical fairy godmother?
Let’s get ready for the ball, shall we? Bippity boppity boo!
Happy shopping!
