Spring 2016 Trend #3: Totally Tie-Dye

Take everything you thought you knew about psychedelic tie-dye and throw it out the window. Designers played with tie-dye prints in totally new ways this season. Yes, Saint Laurent may have gone the grunge-hippie route with t-shirts and sweatshirts, but Altuzarra changed the game with the gorgeous dip-dye effects on dresses and blouses.

.

While tie-dye is probably one of the most casual prints out there, it can still be dressed up a little for a summer evening. This stretchy jersey Athleta dress can be worn as a beach cover-up OR you can match it with a textured moto-jacket and earrings to go out for drinks.

Yes it’s crazy, but we still love it. A tie-dyed blazer like this one from Raquel Allegra is the ultimate statement piece. Keep it simple underneath with polished dark jeans and a white tank. This outfit would make me set up a lot more dates for cocktails with friends!

Shop our favorite tie-dyed items below. Or DIY! Tie-dyeing is a surprisingly easy and fun project you can do with the kids. Kyle tie-dyed her kitchen linens last year, but you can do anything from towels to t-shirts. (Lani also made Kyle tie-dye tees for her boys at the same time so that they could wear them to tie-dye day at school, which happened to be the next week. Very convenient!)
