The Golden Globes red carpet had some stand out looks this year! As usual, there were plunging necklines and sky-high slits. And surprise! My favorite gown is by Alessandro Michele at Gucci. But there were plenty of looks that I had mixed feelings on. Which look was your favorite? Your least favorite? Let us know on our Facebook page.

Zoe Saldana in Gucci
Zoe Saldana rarely takes a risk that doesn’t pay off. Remember her epic Dolce & Gabbana dress from the Met Gala last year? This colorblock Gucci dress with a metallic pink bow makes me so happy.

.
Issa Rae in Christian Siriano
This dress is so modern and slimming! The lines, the high neck, the modern silhouette…everything comes together to highlight and flatter my favorite new actress/director.
.
.
Busy Philipps in Stella McCartney
I love that this dress is form-fitting and sexy, but isn’t overly revealing like so many other red carpet looks. The floral appliques are trendy, but too crazy or showy.

.
Evan Rachel Wood in Altuzarra
This has serious YSL Le Smoking suit vibes. The flared tuxedo pants over heels and the longer jacket make 5’6 Evan Rachel Wood look way over 6′ tall. She looks so hot!

.
Millie Bobby Brown in Jenny Packham
Ok so the Stranger Things actress is only 12, and has already become one of my style inspirations. Seriously, just check out this picture of Millie hanging out with my other favorite fashion icon, Emma Roberts, in the front row of the Coach Spring/Summer 17 fashion show. This look is adorably age appropriate but also super chic.

Shining Bright: Sequins Again
.
Emma Stone in Valentino
Last year, my favorite dresses were all sequined out. This year followed a similar trend! Emma Stone had Lani’s absolute favorite dress, with the perfect necklace to match.
.
.
Ruth Negga in Louis Vuitton
Ruth Negga’s glam t-shirt dress was adored by critics, and it’s easy to see why. I loveee this futuristic custom silver sequin gown. I would wear this in a heartbeat!
.
.
Sarah Paulson in Marc Jacobs
This Marc Jacobs gown feels like a wonderful mix of rock and roll and Hollywood glamour. I personally think it is so cool!
.
.
Claire Foy in Erdem
I don’t feel like this is a bad dress, but I do not like the whole look. The pale purple belt should be a different color (or just not there).

The Cold Shoulder: Ready to be Retired?
.
Drew Barrymore in Monique Lhuillier
The biggest trend of 2016 was The Cold Shoulder, and the red carpet showed this trend is still going strong. Drew Barrymore’s ethereal take was my favorite, but the others left something to be desired.
.
.
Michelle Williams in Louis Vuitton
This dress was loved and hated by the critics, and I understand why. I didn’t love the lace at first glance, but the outfit grew on me the more I looked at it. With her sleek bleach blonde hair and trendy choker necklace, I think the Louis Vuitton campaign star made this dress into a minimalist’s dream.

.
Hailee Steinfeld in Vera Wang
Mmmm…Yeah I don’t know. The lavender tulle is beautiful on her, but the sleeves bother me. This is actually a wedding look that was custom made in lavender for her. I think it looks much better from the back!
.
.
Sarah Jessica Parker in Vera Wang
I’m assuming this is her Carrie Fisher/Princess Leia tribute? I think that the cold shoulder look does best when it is on a minimal, sleek silhouette. This is just too voluminous and billowy for me.

Modern Renaissance: The Runway Trend Hits the Red Carpet
.
Zazie Beets in Delphine Manivet
Velvet is everywhere this season! I was surprised I didn’t see more exciting velvet gowns (except for Chrissy Metz’ beautiful plum velvet gown). This dress is like a gothic princess ball gown. Who knew that would be so appealing to me?
.
.
Lily Collins in Zuhair Murad
The pale color and the lacy design make this dress a huge red carpet risk. But Lily Collins really pulled it off! I think the outfit looks amazing with her pale skin, deep red lips, and dark hair.
.
.
Kerry Washington in Dolce & Gabbana
This is another dress that I’m not sure about. I actually like the corset top, the pale yellow, and the jeweled cap sleeves. However, the brooch-adorned “belt” and mid-calf length keep it too runway and not enough red carpet. Because it’s Kerry Washington, I say she is allowed to wear whatever crazy outfit she wants!
